Alina is currently completing a PhD in bioengineering at the University of Basel. Originally from Germany, she has a background in biochemistry with a masters in biological sciences from University of Cambridge and a bachelors in biochemistry and cell biology from Jacobs University Bremen. She has undertaken various internships in the area of epigenetics and cancer research from places such as Heidelberg, Cambridge, Singapore and Tübingen. Apart from her research, she is passionate about science communication and policy making and considers these among the main issues concerning researchers in a world where fake news spreads easily.
